The Growth of Digital Media's effect on Project Development Solutions

The growth of the technology industry in recent years has made the work of promoting events and music much easier.  The drawbacks are few and far between, compared to the wonderful benefits digital media has brought to our world.

When the internet was in its younger days, it took a wealth of knowledge of HTML coding to assemble a website.  Today, websites can be created for free from templates like Blogger, Weebly, and Google Sites.  Everything has become very easy to understand, and there seems to be an app for every project solution needed.

A big advantage of the advancement of digital media is the ease of use.  Everyone can create a website, promote their band, upload music, and provide an interactive site for their fans.  People went from carrying walkman cassette players, to cd players, and all the way to iPods and Zune media players.  It has become easier to carry music with you.  Media players can be hooked up to car stereos, and new cars are readily equipped with an iPod port.  With the advent of smart phones, the internet, and organization tools are in everyone's pocket.  This makes it easier to contact people, and promote events, because their reminder is right in their pocket.

Some disadvantages of the digital domain for entertainment projects are as follows.  Since the majority of a band's work can be torrented online, it has caused a severe decline in album sales.  Easy music upload sites and free music recording programs have reduced the demand for major record labels and recording studios.  It has become harder for a band's work to stand out among the noise of the free cookie cutter websites, and their ease of use.  Some knowledge of web design can really serve to make a band's page stand out in a crowded room of mediocrity.  Another disadvantage of having so much content online, is that the audience goes to live shows less and less every year.  In tough economic times, entertainment is the first thing cut on many a person's budget.

Overall, the advancements technology have been a blessing in disguise, a double edge sword, the yin and the yang.  We must learn to adapt to our rapidly changing environment of our technology to keep up, and hopefully keep two steps ahead of the competition.
